Okay, so imagine the typical image of a stoner in your head. Some would imagine a smoker who is sitting in a Lazy chair with thick plumes of smoke and bags of chips everywhere. Or maybe you’re imagining Seth Rogen or Snoop Dogg – two highly functional stoners. These are just the mainstream image depicted in movies. We all know this lazy stoner stereotype isn’t actually the case, at least not always.
New meaning to a runner’s high?
These days, you’ll find some people smoke up before engaging in some form of physical activity such as weigh tlifting, running, or doing yoga. In one survey to cannabis users, it was found that about 70% of respondents who used cannabis before working out said doing so made it more enjoyable! Why is this the case? Most people said that using cannabis before a workout helps ease their mind and focus on just doing one thing – exercising. It takes away the anxiety and the worries that is currently on their mind, allowing them to be clear-headed on the task at hand. Another benefit? Aiding in recovery. You know how when you get a good workout and you feel so sore the next day you can barely make it up the stairs? Cannabis helps alleviate the discomfort of sore muscles and manage pain. If it feels good and you get results, chances are you’re going to be doing it again.
Is it safe?
It may help with motivation and may help you enjoy your workout, but there are some physical effects to consider. Obviously, when you’re high it may affect your coordination and reaction time. This can be a danger to yourself and the others around you when you’re exercising high. It is not recommended to do higher risk activities in which you may injure yourself or others. You must proceed with caution when using cannabis before a workout. Whether you do or don’t use cannabis before working out, we can all agree that exercising is great for your mind, body, and soul. So let’s stay healthy and happy!
